When 22-year old Amini was killed after her arrest for breaching Iran’s draconian dress code for women, thousands came out in protest in the country. In the weeks since, millions of people across the world have followed suit to show their support.
This is a movement of both fearless individual defiance and collective solidarity.
In this performance inspired by our Iranian sisters, seven women from six nations and three continents explore the meaning of sisterhood in the face of oppression. What empowers us as individuals and a collective? What does courage look like in all its diverse and feminine forms? As women shed their fear of their own power, how can they bring balance to a suffering world?
These are the questions of modern womanhood and this dance theatre piece answers them with an image of hope.
It is time to harness the positive influence women can have on each other and the world to shift paradigm within culture.
